Joint of what?
860 divided by 500

Multiply by 25.
Question Author
does it matter? do you know how to work it out?
43 minutes seems a short cooking tiime ... you'll probably need to add 25 mins too, yes?
860 divided by 500 times25 for the number of minutes

yes, you do need to add 25 but i can just about work out how to add 25 to another number!
Divide 860 by 500
That gives 1.72
Multiply 1.72 by 25
That gives 43
So you should roast it for 43 minutes.
My instructions usually say x minutes per 500g then another x minutes, though....
Oh, you're welcome.
Question Author
yes thank you everyone, i do have to add on more minutes, however it's not the adding up i was having trouble with, thanks
So, 68 minutes.
And no, it doesn't matter to me at all how long you roast your joint for.
Expect it might for you though, when you get it out of the oven either raw or burnt.
Yes it does matter. Beef would not be a problem...but pork might me..

I, personally, would cook it (if it is beef), for about 50 minutes...because they usually say 25 mins per 500g plus 25 mins...

But I like mine with a bit of blood.
"But I like mine with a bit of blood."

Still learning to use a knife & fork ummmmy?, lol

Arrrggghhh! Thanks everone who told me how to work out the bit that i couldn't work out. However, as stated i can add 25 minutes to something without having to ask other people how to do it!

Knife and fork Nazzy...what are these instruments you speak of?? :-)
i don't bother with complicated mathematical calculations for cooking (except baking, which i rarely do). in this instance my mind says it would take 50 minutes to cook something weighing 1000g so for something weighing 860g it's a bit less than 50 minutes, maybe 40. i've found with general cooking, the time is rarely critical to within 5 or 10 minutes.
We have a lot of people around here with bad acne scars. At least, that's what they tell us.
We know that it's where the English came here and tried to teach them to use a knife & fork. pmsl
Did she ever tell us what kind of joint it was?...I like knowing what we are having... ;-))
A small one, that's for sure ... I'm not sure there will be enough to go around.
