Arthritis/MRI Scan

Hello abers, last July, I posted about a bad back, got all sorts of useful answers thank you. I had an MRI scan in Oct and results arrived early Jan. Letter said scan of nerves and lumbar are fine but signs of wear and tear of the bones in my neck down to ordinary osteroarthritis. They also said there is no definitive treatment for cervical spondylosis which I already knew. I am taking Naxopren but obviously cannot be on it long term because of side effects. I also take glucosamine, green lipped muscle and a multi vitamin tab. The Naxopren has eased the pain in my back, but has had no effect on the dreadful pain in both arms, particularly the bicep muscles. I thought arthritis affected the joints not the muscles. I also still get pain in the muscles at the back of my legs. I ran out of Naxopren last week and have an appointment tomorrow with GP to get some more. While I was not taking them, I was in terrible pain. No mention was made in the letter from the hospital about my arm pain, is this because it is all related to the neck problem? Is there anything other natural supplement I can take to try and help as I do not want to be on Naxopren long term. I am rather depressed at the moment as we all know this is a degenerative problem not likely to improve. Any helpful comments would be appreciated thanks.

Complicated question:

Naxopren is a NSAID and yes, like all drugs it MAY have side effects, short term or long term as almost all drugs do.

Do you want to suffer in pain against the chance of side effects from NSAID?

Arthritis does affect the joints, but the muscle pain is spasm in an attempt to protect the damaged joint.

The arm pain is almost certainly muscular in origin secondary to your cervical spine degeneration.

There will be plenty of posts following this on the benefits of "natural supplements" and I will leave it to them.

Thank you Squad, understand your point about drug side effects v pain. Which is best, theres only one way to find out!

Have you tried seeing an osteopath or physiotherapist to see if they can provide any relief?
