Sunday: the best day of the week. :-)

We're going to look out for a nice gastropub on the drive back to mine and I'll do the cooking tomorrow (Paella of Salmon, Jumbo Prawn and Red Snapper). I have a couple of bottles of a rather delectable Essenze Pinot Gris from Marlborough, NZ (not to be confused with that Pinot Grungy-o rubbish!!) which is available in Sainsbury's. With its concentrated fruit and buttery, honeyed undertones, it's my contender for Wine of the Week.

So what are you cooking / doing / drinking today?

Question Author
I've just been nibbling on choc cake myself. I made Mr Sleepy Head some chocolate brownies and I keep picking at them. I'll be the size of a house if I carry on! :-(
Hello ---- nope still have lots - I made lots though so that means nothing x
piggy - both of you......:-) (i'm only jealous as you have cake and i don't unless fishcakes count?)
This is also excellent: http://www.cluelessab...-chiroubles-2007.html

Less than a tenner in Sainsburys last time I looked...

Muchas gracias, Mark. Voy a comprar una botella de ese vino manana!. :-)
I'll dig something out of the freezer later. Maybe a lasagne or something.

On the other hand, I'm going out for the papers in a minute. I could easily be tempted to take them into a pub and have lunch there.

I think the last time I ate at home was Thursday lunch time. I'd hate to start getting my kitchen dirty again.

De nada.

It's Sunday, Seagull, you have to spoil yourself and do whatever you fancy!
Question Author
Btw, Fluffster, I really want homemade fish cakes now.

And I'm going to bake you some chocolate stinking bishop brownies, wrap them up and post them to you. I'm nice like that....
your doing the cooking in a pub?
a cheese sandwich, simplicity today :)
Question Author
No, we're pubbing it today. I've got tomorrow off as A/L and so I'll cook tomorrow as if it were today.
Question Author
Will you go wild and have some pickle on that, Cazzz? ;-)
I'm also heading down the pub. My local does an excellent Sunday roast plus "proper" puddings - apple crumble and custard, that sort of thing.
Question Author
There's nothing like traditional fayre. I wish I could perfect my pastry-making skills, as I would like to do more farmhouse style dishes.
I confess I never make my own pastry - Jus-Rol every time...
Question Author
You can't really go wrong with Jus-Rol, as long as you don't handle it too much. Try this for a gorgeous pie filling:

Melt 3tbsps butter in a pan, add 4 tbsps plain flour, chicken stock, 5tbsps each dry white wine and medium sherry, double cream, 1 tbsp fresh parsley, 1 tsp dried thyme. To that, add cooked chicken, finely chopped onions (cooked but not browned), carrots, parsnips and peas, and seasoning. Should go very well with your Beaujolais!
Me encanta!
