but I think it is one of the ponciest National dances that any country has
The Scots have a fabulous dance and National costume, the Welsh have a lovely costume
the Irish are renowned the world over for their dance
what do we have?

From a letter to the Daily Telegraph:
"SIR – I cannot come up with a single national dress for the English but how about this?

English Number One dress: tatty tweed jacket with leather patches on the elbow; stained Argyll jumper with frayed school tie; baggy grey flannels and old brown shoes with cracks in the polished leather.

English Number Two dress: an old vest revealing a bright sunburn ring around the neck and tattoos on the arms; stained, baggy and short jeans held up by a thick leather belt with entirety of heavy boots clearly visible"
