Is it too late to make a decent Christmas cake. I was just looking at a recipe for one and it said wrap and store for at least 4 months!

Great - thanks Clematis. I've NEVER made one before.
My dried fruit has been soaking in sherry, I'm making it on Sunday. It will be fine, but I wish I'd done it a few weeks ago!
I made mine the week before Xmas and it was fine.

No need to panic.
I am doing mine tomorrow. At the moment my fruit is getting drunk on brandy.! Have left my christmas puddings late also. will do those in the next week coming. I hope.!

I meant to ask. Do you use a particular recipe?
I used Delia's recipe for years :

then found this one which takes much less time and tastes just as good:

I'm starting mine today so will cook it Tuesday- loads of time left ;-)
