Is gnocchi supposed to be boingy? I made a gnocchi bake thing and I tried a bit and they were very boingy, not very pleasant at all.

They should be soft. Did you parboil them first before baking?
Well it has more resistance than mashed potato. It is quite dense in texture. I`ve never cooked it though - only eaten it. I`m not mad on it if truth be told.

I followed the recipe which said to boil them until they floated to the surface. Don't think I am going to persuade my lot to eat them again (although the sauce bit was a hit).
I love them. My Nonna always made them from scratch (less boingy!). x

It was part of my plan that they have to try one new thing a week (although they are having something else new tomorrow).
Sherr, I had the same experience making gnocchi as you had. Never made them again. I binned the whole lot.
Hi Sherr, I have only eaten this as an accompaniment with meat cooked in a slow cooker, so it takes on some flavour. I can live without trying it again ! It was boingy ( what a lovely word that is ) !

One of the children couldn't eat it (she did try but started crying - made me feel awful). Fingers crossed for tomorrow's new meal of honey chicken kebobs.
