Fish fingers and chips on a Friday the only palatable meal of the week! (Thank goodness for Catholics not eating meat on a Friday) and jam rolypoly pud and custard.
My favourite main was roast mutton and onion sauce. There were two puds we all loved, chocolate cracknel (the rice crispie thing) and toffee cream tart which was heavenly and I've never come across anything like it since (and it's not the same as gypsy tart)
The chips were brilliant. Manchester tart, chocolate sponge and green peppermint sauce, the peanut butter cookies and those very special occasions when we got milkshakes :-)
