Went for lunch with some pals today.

They just had to make bubble and squeak.

That sounds a bit retro, jj.
Lovely with a fried egg and some bacon mmm
Lucky you , yummy.
Noooo, not at all nice! I bet they fried it too? I could just about manage it baked in the oven and served with a poached egg. But fried , yuk.
You only need a teaspoon of oil if that.
No oil. Too greasy. Touch of lard or beef dripping.

Yep ... fried!
I wouldn't dream of cooking leftovers for guests but would happily cook them for myself.
I like bubble and squeak, we would happily eat it at home.
Agree with Jackdaw, wouldn't serve this for guests!! Unless it was accompanying a fillet steak!!
Yuk! And re-cooked meat even worse!!
Oh dear, well I hate waste - tomorrow is a delicious Tagine with the leftover meats and apricots and coriander.
Bubble & Squeak, nice couple of grilled bangers & some leftover gravy from the roast nuked 'til it's boiling - what's not to like??

Ahhhhhggggggg, I knew somebody would have to mention that stuff.
OH begs me to make bubble & squeak (quite a handy lever), but I wouldn't do it for guests - yet I would make Colcannon potatoes.... strange.

I had an Irish spinster great aunt. On the one occasion we went to stay I was amazed that the only thing she ever cooked was mashed potato and cabbage. She could eat by the bucketful. That's a lot of years ago.
