It was granddaughters 21st birthday today. 10 family members went to an Italian restaurant in Ross on Wye tonight. The food was fabulous. I had mussels in a tomato and red wine sauce with chunky bread for dipping. Followed by whitebait and a mixed salad. Absolutely delicious.
Only problem was it was our U3A skittles and lunch today. I had preordered a month ago steak and kidney pudding chips and peas before I knew about tonight's outing. I did leave most of the pastry though.
I was good tonight and didn't have a dessert! My main course was really a starter. I feel absolutely stuffed.

I am not sure the title says what you meant it to say.
I am sure I could manage both lunch and that dinner. I'm a greedy pig me!
Caran is now joining me at the gym!

Glad you had a good time....well two good times....x
Sounds a great day, I love Whitebait.
JIM !!!!!!

You now owe me a new keyboard and a box of monitor wipes ...
Hi Caren, we are visiting a friend near Ross in July, would you be kind enough to tell me the name of the Italian restaurant. Always looking for good eateries.
Jim and Dave, behave yourselves - I doubt Caran uses that dictionary.

Daughter had made a birthday cake in the shape of 21.
Decorated with a chocolate type spread then covered in hundreds of mini maltesers, jelly beans and lots of other sweets. It was brilliant.
I do too, Mamya.....once entertained a Canadian visitor...young lad and he ordered whitebait....
When it came he turned green and left the table muttering ...eyes....eyes....these Brits are feeding me eyes..... :-)
I do like some nice crunchy whitebait - a dab of curry in the mayo dip is nice :)

Sapelesam it was something like Avelinas. Just off the market square. I was so surprised at the number of eateries in Ross. Far more than is the average.
But this one was excellent, the service was superb too.
Question Author
That's the one Mamya, well done again!
My last couple of visits, I have struggled to find good eateries, need a locals knowledge I suppose. Thanks for the info, if you can recommend anywhere else, I will be grateful.
Question Author
Not eaten anywhere else in Ross. But did see a few other places that were really packed out.
We will definitely go back to this one again though.
Trip Advisor's picks for a start Sam, a long time since I visited Ross.

Thanks Mamya, are you local? Caren, two years ago we tried No3 which is very close, very nice meal with great service, even though it was full.
Question Author
We went passed No 3 and remarked it looked good, very full and everyone looked happy.
No, I'm not local - just visited a few times but years ago.

A Lancashire lass am I.
Not only eaten out but stuffed as well....
