Gross fish and chips

I went to the chippy tonight cos I was working late and got fish, chips and a pea fritter. The fish was all kind of grey and watery with brown bits on it. It wasn't that hot. The chips were pale and hard. The peas were rock hard. It was gross - I chucked it away and emailed a complaint with pics! The place was being run by 2 x16 year old girls- clearly the owner put them in charge as it was a "quiet" Monday. Bad move. My question: I feel slightly ill after eating a bit of the fish. Does it sound to you like it was undercooked? Is there any danger?

I doubt if the fish was undercooked and anyway there's nothing wrong with eating undercooked fish - you will never get food poisoning from that alone. However, I still think you have every right to complain about the general unsatisfactory standard of the meal you were served.
It is really hard to find a decent chippie where I live. Sometimes we go miles out of our way to find one.
But the best one for me in London is the Seashell in Lisson Grove.

2 x 16 year olds spells trouble. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against 16 year olds but at that age I don't really think they care much about customer service.
Hi - my husband use to own a fish and chip shop and if the fish is grey watery it usually indicates that the fish has been frozen then defrosted and left out of the fridge for a while, which happens in quiet shops and then reheated by dropping it in the fryer for a few mins. It doesn't sound like you eat enough to be in danger; it would have had to be off for you to become ill and there would have been a very sour taste and smell to it - You may find when you forget about the rotton meal that you will feel better - hope so!
Sounds to me that you are lucky you haven't got your head down the loo!
