Healthy and chewy bar - ok, so define healthy and chewy at the same time, but thi is really easy and tastes great - and a lot more tasty than some of the shp bought bars too.......
Easy Oat Slice
175g/6 oz oats or muesli
150g / 5 oz sugar
125g / 4 oz white flour - use brown if you want a bit 'deeper' texture and a firmer finish..
90g / 3 oz dessicated coconut
150g / 5 z butter
30ml / 2 tbsp golden syrup
5ml / 1tsp bicarb of soda
Pre heat oven to 175 C / 350 F
In a large bowl mix the oats/muesli, sugar, cocount and flour.
Melt the butter and add the bicarb of soda and golden syrup.
As the wet mix froths up, add this to the dry ingredients and stir really well - it will seem quite dry but this is correct.
Pour this into a greased baking tray, and cook - takes 15 mins.
You can add extra fruits to the mis if you like such as apricots, raisins, cherries or whatever you fancy, and a few chocolate drops add a touch of the exotic...........dribble a melted chocolate sauce over the top (dont be even with it, make it look all casual and arty....) for a further dressing.....
Allow to cool, cut into slices and stuff into your mouth all in one go - yum and easy.
