Hello, I have just discovered a way of making my own desert nougat and it is just as good as the original!
It is quite easy.
All you need is some soft nutty nougat, you can buy some almond from the website A Quarter Of, they sell them in 8oz bags, I bought 2 bags (1.93 each). Then you need some rose flavoured turkish delight, once again A Quarter Of sells Rose and Lemon.
Now chop or cut the rose turkish delight into small pieces. You may wish to add a little more icing sugar to stop them sticking together. Next heat the nougat in a microwave. Be careful when doing this! You will only need to heat the nougat for about a minute before checking it, both bags of nougat only took about 1.45 mins in all. If you overheat it, the nuts burn and the whole thing goes brittle once cool.
Once soft, stir in the turkish delight pieces. The mixture as it cools, will form a pliable paste and you can roll this out on a smooth surface. Don't use your kitchen surface as it tends to stick, try something like a glass chopping board. Once cooled cut into squares with a sharp knife and enjoy!
Cheers Sue
