If you have a tin of tomatoes I would make a sauce with them. Add garlic, chilli, sauted mushrooms and onion and simmer away for 20 mins. Maybe add a little sugar.
Chuck in the ham nera the end to warm through and serve over the cooked pasta.
My favourite pasta dish - saute the mushrooms and ham, add a couple of teaspoons of pesto (green or red although I prefer red personally) and then finish off with either double cream or creme fraiche. Stir into pasta and you're done (apart from sprinkling parmesan or some other cheese over the top) Yum!
