Bread and Jam(cakes too!)
4 Answers
Finaly I got a breadmaker for Christmas, been wanting one for years.Having discovered the joys of homemade bread(so much for the new year diet ;-) ) I thought I would go for it and try jam and cakes since it has those functions.Has anyone got any tried and tested recipies they wouldnt mind posting, but just simple ones, like a chocolate cake or strawberry jam.I have had a quick look on the web but after all the false starts I had getting the bread just right I dont want to try adapting any.I know chocolate, orange and almond cake sounds yummy but I am trying to win over people who have to keep their diet 'simple'Much thanks

5oz Self Raising Flour
1oz cocoa powder
6oz Caster Sugar
6oz Margarine
3 medium/large eggs
You can either just throw everything in together and mix until light and fluffy with an electric mixer or..........
Cream together sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.
Add beaten egg a little at a time adding a little flour and cocoa with each and mix well
Fold in remaining flour & cocoa until thoroughly mixed.
Divide mixture between 2 7inch sandwich tins and bake at 170 decrees for approximately 20 - 25 minutes until sponge springs back when you touch the top lightly.
Allow to cool and you can then fill with cream, buttercream or (my daughters favorite) Nutella and top with the topping of your choice (again my daughters favorite is nutella and flaked chocolate)
Hope this helps :-D

Thanks for the chocolate cake recipie,as for advice, after a few bricks that pretended to be bread, measure ingridients EXACTLY.I was a bit slapdash and paid the price. When I did this, including the water temperature, the loaf was great, even better than the ready mix stuff you buy and throw in!I hope you enjoy your bread, hijack any of my posts,i dont mind so long as you pay me in bread and jam! ;-)
