So what are you having for the most celebrated meal of the week?

I'm cooking (though not until much later on tonight) racks of lamb, roasties, glazed carrots with fresh chives, broccoli and another veg - but for the life of me, I can't remember what it is!

I'm doing a starter of goats' cheese and stilton stuffed mushrooms in tempura batter.

This will be served with my nomination for wine of the week: McGuigan's Aussie Merlot, currently on offer in Tesco at £5.99. An ideal wine if you like heaps of complexity, warmth and depth from a red. :-)

Anyone seen Newsdesk? He loves my threads about food and wine.

I agree zzxxee, there's nothing like a bit of comfort food.

Tiggs, you deserve extra lashings of beef for letting your mum take the car! ;-)

Enjoy, barb. Will you be making dumplings?

Boxy, that's a nice healthy choice! I might cook a stirfry one of these days.
I'd be full up after just the starter! How can anyone eat all that in one go? I'll have a doggy bag for the rest...lol

Well I hope she's got extra portions of beef AND Yorkshires NM. Yorkshires are the best thing about a roast and they have to be smothered in gravy :o) mmmmm
