Does anybody know why swiss roll is called swiss roll. I had some today with my friend in a cafe and it got us thinking. Is there any connection to Switzerland? Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it's nothing to do with Switzerland, from what I remember. I make a great Swiss Roll though. ;-)
Looks like we are the only people who call it Swiss

I wonder if we call it that because when you look at a slice it looks like a 'swish'?
