Chocolate fondant is a delicious chocolate dessert; it is heaven for any chocolate lover. The centre is gooey, runny chocolate, surrounded by a soft moist chocolate sponge. So next time the kids are out of the house and you have sometime alone, enjoy a romantic evening with a perfect chocolaty dessert and a glass of wine.

Ingredients

  • 60g Butter
  • 60g Chocolate, over 60% cocoa solids
  • 60g all purpose flour
  • 1 egg and 1 egg yolk
  • 70g sugar
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C or gas mark 4.
  2. Butter two Ramekins and then dust with cocoa.
  3. Melt butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. Once melted leave to cool.
  4. Whisk the eggs and sugar together until pale and thick, then add the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Add flour to the mixture and fold until smooth, divide between ramekins.
  6. Put in oven for 10 minutes or according to taste, the longer it is in the more the centre gets cooked so becomes a sponge instead of gooey runny chocolate.
