Honey Banana Porridge

Porridge is a perfect breakfast; it is one of the cheapest foods and is a great balanced healthy meal, a perfect start to the day. Oats are high in fibre, reduce cholesterol levels, rich in vitamin E, vitamin B and high in iron. As well as being great for you, porridge served with a little honey and bananas is delicious and very satisfying; you will feel full until lunch and you are eating one of your five a day.

A hot breakfast is wonderfully comforting in winter, and porridge is quick and easy to make, so there are no excuses not to start your day with a healthy, delicious, hot breakfast.

 Ingredients

  • 150g rolled oats
  • 600ml milk
  • 4 tbsp sultanas
  • 4 bananas
  • honey

Method

  1. In a saucepan boil the milk, and then stir in the oats, honey and sultanas.
  2. Simmer gently for a few minutes, one it is cooked serve with sliced bananas and drizzle some honey on top.
