A. Coca Cola is this country's biggest selling drinks brand, with UK sales estimated at 665-660 million, ahead of Nescafe and Stella Artois.


The fruit drink Sunny Delight, however which enjoyed a huge marketing boom three years ago, has seen sales fall by nearly 35 per cent.


Q. Why has Sunny D's popularity declined

A. The high-sugar drink has suffered at the hands of critical reports from health watchdogs.

Health and diet foods are bucking the trend and enjoying a period of growth. People are becoming more health conscious and low-calorie sugar replacements, organic products and functional foods suc as Danone bio-Activa yoghurts' which claim to aid the digestion, have seen a rise in sales of over 100 per cent..


The top 50 UK brands include Birds Eye frozen vegetables, Ariel, Pampers, Pepsi and Ribena.


Q. What is the best-selling wine

A. Banrock Station, a New World wine, has become the world's biggest wine brand, and sales are up nearly 92 per cent since last year. The wines, aimed at upmarket 25 to 45-year-olds, promote the company's partnership with the Wet.landa and Wildfowl Trust. The Hardy's Stamp series and Blossom Hill range are also enjoying a huge surge in sales. The study of the UK's favourite brands and the newcomers with high growth was carried out by research experts at AC Nielsen.


Q.What about energy drinks

A. Red Bull is the most popular energy drink. Barcadi Breezer, especially the tropical lime blend, is thought to be the most popular alcopop in UK. Other contenders include Red Square Reloaded, V2, Woody's Alcoholic peach drink, Red Square vodka and Irn-Bru, Smirnoff Mule, Metz-Schnapps-based drink, Smirnoff Ice, Archers Schnapps Aqua Lime and Red Square Energising.
