Whisky Porridge

Porridge is the most traditional Scottish breakfast anyone can have and Scotch whisky is of course their most famous Scottish beverage, therefore putting the two together makes perfect sense. This simple and interesting breakfast is guaranteed to warm you up on a cold winter morning. Porridge is wonderful comfort food and fuel for the day and whisky sounds like a perfect way to get off to a good start.


  • 50g oats
  • 1 shot whisky
  • 240ml water
  • Pinch of salt
  • Honey


  1. Place the oats in a sauce pan with all the whisky and water, soak overnight.
  2. Add the salt and simmer for 6-7 minutes.
  3. Serve with a drizzle of honey and maybe another shot of whisky.
