Hi xyzzy! I remember Pink Panther chocolate - it was pink (obviously!) and was supposed to be strawberry flavoured I think! I also remember Bar 6 - a chocolate covered wafer-type thing! (BTW, I think you can still get Double Deckers - I look at them longingly in the shops but have to resist!)
I used to love those aniseed balls with a metallic silver coating (only available loose).
What was the bar (short lived I think) that had the song in the advert that went :- It's amazing what raisins can do, All that goodness and it's all for you
What about splicers, they were about in the early 80s. It was a chewy fruit flavour bar. they tasted like a whole packet of opal fruits squashed together!
I've thought of a couple more, Galaxy counters, Nutty bars, Pyramints, Spanish Gold and Cabana bars.
I shouldn't think double deckers count either - I had one last week. Definitely not deleted. Oh - remember lemon polos? or almond and dark chocolate mars bars? Yum!

Andy

Texan bars were my particular favourite; their USP was that they took several hours to get through and the chocolate always fell off.
I remember time bombs, super sours and mega warheads that you could only get from those twisty 20p machines ouside the newsagents but you could never get them in packets anywhere.
One from the early 90s was Applause, with Apple in it. Then there were Ovaltine Bars in the 80s. They were very short-lived.
I also remember Bar 6 and can you still get Caramac?
Toffee Crisp?
I believe Toffee Crisp is still available. Not sure about Caramac though. Another one I remember is a 3-layered chocolate bar - dark, white and milk - but I don't recall its name. Can you still get shoe laces - those long thin red chewy things? And what about the little tubes of fizzy stuff that had a stick of liquorice in them - looked a bit like a firework? Am I showing my age by any chance?!!
Starbars were renamed Boost and had a few different flavours added. So you have to add them to your don't count list Xyzzy....Anyone remember Spacedust then?

Thanks everyone for such yummy nostalgia. Mmm. yeah, Cabanas, Spanish Gold, Red spanish, scary Space Dust.. Yep D.Decker's was an oops. Here's some more rare goodies, Dime Bar (still around?) Walnut whip (going strong?), Pacers, Tiffin, [Golden Cup,Toffos, Caramac, all Mackintosh], Bubbly used to be bigger! Bazookas, Jubbly - gone. FAB ice lolly, Zoom! ice lolly, Treble Hit, ice lolly, Wiz, ice lolly with yum soft toffee inside. Maybe we should annex a separate Q. for ice lollies. Mine's a fourpenny one. ;-)
You forgot supermousses, (like milky ways but nicer) and mint cracknels and I used to ADORE fruity blue ice lollies.
Have to disagree about Starbars - they still exist as a separate entity to Boost! Starbars have a more nutty filling.
yes xyzzyplugh, dime bars still around. You can even get packets of individually wrapped tiny ones (very popular at airport shops for some reason!)
Used to love Galaxy Counters - you can still get them in packets of Revels but you have to put up with all that other cr@p!
Caramac are still on the go, deliciously creamy caramel flavour choccie bar!
Fizzy stuff with liquorice stick were, and still are, Sherbert Dips.
