Why isn't World of Warcraft free?

The wow game players are all over the world. This is the greatest game. People like to play it. and also they would like to spend money and time on the game. They also take time in playing and spend money on buying wow gold or other weapons and pets and so on. Why isn't World of Warcraft free? If it is free, I think it will be more and more successful.

Its not free so that the company that made it can provide the fairly massive infrastructure needed to support it and because its so popular they know they have a captive audience from where they can make their money.

At some time I expect an answer to this question will be posted which contains an advert for a WoW gold selling site..........there have been many of these (almost identical) questions posted in the last few weeks.

I think WOW is the most interesting game of all MMORPG, it have many special details, for example, 25 Man Raid, PVE ane PVP. Achievement system, reputation system, and so on. Every One or two years, a new expansion is opened, CTM is coming, it will many newest details, for example, Currency systems.
