Wii remote controls

I have just set-up a nintendo wii after about 9 months of not being used
I ahve put new batteries in the wii remote controls but they don`t seem to be registering, the 4 blue lights flash a few times and then go off. Do i need to reset something ?

Push red reset button on side of main wii unit (under lift up cover) and then red button on wii remote, where you place the batteries. This will pair them up.
