USB memory stick content not being recognised on the PS3.

I have downloaded 3500 songs onto a memory stick which my laptop recognises as being almost full up. I can play the songs no problem on my laptop. However, when i put the USB stick in my PS3, It sees the memory stick but tells me there are no files on it. I did this originally a month ago with 2000 songs and the PS3 played it OK, but since i've added the rest of my music collection it won't read it. Before I put the other 1500 songs on, I deleted the whole stick and started again from scratch loading all 3500 songs in one go. Would this have casued a problem?

At a guess you have downloaded as WMA and your PS3 is looking for MP3's or something along those lines.

I'd not know about PS3 but I would recommend backing the drive up. I'm fed up with them becoming unreadable.

Hi Dave. PS3's play WMAs with no problem usually. As I said, it played them OK before from the same stick.

Last guess when you down loaded this time is there a "download as" option?

Surprised that Sony enables MS files to play back but apparently it does if enabled via Settings > System Settings > Enable WMA Playback. I cannot confirm this because I don't have a PS3.

Do you mean did they pull the sick out while running with scissors, or something like that?

(PS3's don't use write caching on USB sticks so they can be pulled out at any time as long as there isn't a copy process going on)
