My son has just got an xbox 360 and a yrs worth of xbox live, he wanted to change the gamertag to a name his friends would recognise. It said he could have 1 name change free then it would be 800 (then a symbol I didn't recognise). Can someone tell me what this 'currency might be, I'm sure I could find it if I read the manual but this way may be quicker! There is no bank/credit card registered as it was a prepaid live card. Thanks

The symbol will be gamer points - the symbol looks slightly like a 'G' - the first name change should be free and then they will ask you to use gamer points after this. He may have gamer points already from playing online. if not you can purchase these via xbox live.

Thank you, I assume you need real cash to purchase (bank/credit card) do you need these points for many things?
The latest update should now allow paypal. I would use that rather than registering your card details.
Most gaming shops will also sell points cards to allow purchases.
