Has anyone had any experience of running both a silent auction (where people write bids down on a piece of paper) and a closed auction (using bids in sealed envelopes) and which they have found to be the most profitable?

I've played Silent Scope? Also, Metal Gear Solid, you had to be quite silent in that one.
