Should I Buy Skyrim?
Morning.
I went and played a bit of Oblivion as I was informed it's very similar to Skyrim. I gave it an hour and was impressed at first by the strong and sincere storytelling. Later I enjoyed the seemingly open world (immediately killing everything which moved obviously).
I decided to play a Nord battlemage with a specialism in blunt weapons.
It's easy to see how people get "into" these games.
I'm going to give it another hour to display it's flaws to me, but if none appear I'm picking up Skyrim.
Question #1: Should I buy it for PC or PS3?
Question #2: How is the "Story-telling" in Skyrim? Are the voices as nicely done? I'm really bored of games treating players like they're emotionally stunted slugs (see: Gears of War).

You need to put time in to those RPG type games. I used to hate them but at the same time envied the depth of play enjoyed by RPGers. I came into the genre via Fallout 3 and then Oblivion. The appeal isn't always instant and the game only gets better by progression. I remember reading all the rave reviews for FF7 on the PS1, rushing out and buying it and thinking 'this is rubbish!'
Still, to this day, I cant get into Morrowind. I seem to get my butt kicked no matter what! I do think that modern day RPGs do have a better learning curve even though the importance of levelling up is still prevalent.
Skyrim is very much a game I wish to own and will definitely be my next purchase. I'm still not a die hard RPG fan and do prefer a quick blast on Forza or Just Cause but its nice to have at least one game of lasting substance in my collection for when I have a few hours XBox time at my disposal.

I deliberated for quite some time over which version to get. I looked into all the complaints and control issues which the PC supposedly suffered from and this was quite demoralising in the least, but in the end I opted for the PC version, not only for the lower price but also the fact I have the rest of the series for the PC as well and I am used to the keyboard/mouse combo of old and I don't think I would be able to get used to a gamepad for playing this type of game. I bought the game the other day and I have not regretted it since, there has not been any game destroying crashes or evil control problems and the game has the old Oblivion feel to it but with much smarter graphics. True, there are some very minor control issues such as the interface prompting you to press a certain key which may actually be another, but this has not put me off in the slightest. There has been a couple of graphic anomalies too but nothing game shattering. I am glad that I still held faithful to the PC versions and in future will not be put off by all the complaints that these games attract.
