Graphics card fault
14 Answers
Hi I have been given a pc by my daughter.
It is a Hi -Grade Intel(R) Pentium (R) 4CPU 3.20GHz 480MB of RAM Windows xp home edition version 2002 Service pack 3
SIS Mirage Graphics
The graphics card is faulty, i have tried to update drivers but it says it cannot find a better driver. I tried the troubleshooter and it says This device cannot find enough free resources ( code12)
I do not have the installation cd for the graphics or the windows xp cd. Would i be able to use an xp installation cd from another pc or a differnt graphics cd.

That looks like it will probably be an on-board graphics card, rather than a separate card (because the amount of RAM fitted to the computer will be 512MB, it's showing 480 because the graphics card is using 32MB)
That aside, no you can't use either an XP cd or a CD from a different card!... But you should be able to download the drivers from here..

If it really is a faulty card then a replacement card will be about £20!
(you also really need to fit more RAM)

If you download and run this software it will analyse your system and give info about Motherboard, Memory etc. It is free and I have used it for years on and off.

^^ I wouldn't touch driver manager with a barge pole.
This is the SIS universal driver installer which should detect and work with almost all SIS video adaptors:

Try through any(?) of these..... I'm not recommending any, but they are the driver your asking for..
