Are our politicians boycotting Euro 2012 over the Ukrainian government's human rights issues or for the racial issues?

Whatever the true issues, should England refuse to play in the Ukraine at all?

That's good! Its only a junket for them anyway
It never ceases to amaze me that the UK government plays great homage to the concept of “human Rights” to such a degree that we are forced to harbour terrorists, criminals and other undesirables in our midst. This is especially so when some of their claims that their rights are being abused are somewhat dubious to say the least. . But meanwhile, it completely ignores instances of true Human Rights abuses and continues to form and maintain cosy links (be they political, commercial or sporting) with regimes whose behaviour is reprehensible.

The competition should never have been awarded to the Ukraine in the same way that the last Olympics should not have been awarded to China and countries that are really concerned about Human Rights abuses should not take part.
Does that mean George Osborne won't be using his expenses to go to Euro 2012, like he did for the Champions League Final?

Money is a great leveller when it comes to human rights.
Sorry-my mind was wandering then
Sorry ago- my answers are popping up on the wrong threads
they are trying to make their displeasure known to the Ukrainian government. What would be the point of lying about the reason?
The reason is neither of the above: it's because of concerns over Ukraine's justice system, which is indeed a bit of a shocker. Nonetheless it seems like a piece of opportunistic band-wagon jumping. If Ingerlund gets to the latter stages they'll be falling over themselves for free tickets and saying what a fine place Ukraine is. Which it is largely
...and I meant to add that several other countries are boycotting the tournament specifically over the Yulya Timoshenko affair- doubtless this is along the same lines
