Have you noticed that Mormons (for brevity) are: (a) composed of two men, never a woman in sight [women underlings?]; (b) the guys are dressed in Saville Row suits and expensive shirts, ties and shoes - most unlike their Jesus? Very bad Public Relations planning; (c) they know nothing about respected critics of biblical truth?

Was doing the drains in boiler suit and wellies when two of these pretty guys asked me if I wanted a hand. Like a fool I replied "no thanks".

no i have not
they are on a mission, one of our weekend staff has gone to Scotland doing her mission work . I think because she has just turned 18. We have a Temple here, (amazing building from the outside but just like an office block on the inside, ) therefore we have alot of the young people about, it has a training part to it aswell.
Round here they come in family groups engine from grandparents to grandchildren, usually at least six of them.
Ranging ^
(a) The last LDS we had knock at the door were all women - the whole group was made of about 7 women
Knocks that theory outta the water

(b) Do they do the chav thing of wearing the label outside their clothing then?
(c) Have you asked them then?
Round here it is usually two smartly dressed men
Actually, no. I've met female Mormons doing the rounds.
We had a visit from the JWs, one man, one woman.
Boxtops, the thread is about Mormons, not JWs.
Who is this Moron?
Oops Mormon
Yes I know, naomi, I chucked that in for interest.
If they turned up at the door covered in tattoos, wearing ripped jeans and sporting a red bandanna they'd have no chance of getting to give you the truth.
Suit and tie? Maybe someone will let them in to discuss it.
Oh right. 'Spose a bit of variety never goes amiss. :o)
We have had Women/Men mixes call too. Smart clothing demands more respect. I am friendly to them but a firm NO often suffices. You have to admire their courage to get a facefull of abuse from most householders and still keep going.
Graham, in my experience the Mormons are always polite - and never pushy.
I agree, naomi. They're just very surprised that you are not interested in hearing "the truth" from them. I guess they get used to it after a while.
I just say something along the lines of 'I don't want tobe rude or waste your time, but I am not interested in religion'. I don't think there is any reason to be rude, I wouldn't want to go round knocking doors and expecting to get a mouthful of abuse.
Graham, It doesn't seem to put them off though, does it. Got to give them credit for trying I suppose.
Sherrard, actually I find people coming round knocking on doors as - if not more - intrusive then people ringing me up to sell me insurance, etc. It's inconvenient to say the least - so it doesn't surprise me that some people are less than welcoming to them.
