An interesting chess puzzle was printed in the Daily Telegraph on 31st. Dec. Black has 7 pieces (inc. Queen) and 8 pawns. White has a King which cannot move, and a solitary pawn. White to play and win.
No. It was the H pawn on its starting square , H2. Black's only move is Qa1 to a2. White's king is preventing all other moves by Black. Obviously, White's pawn must go for promotion, but to what?. It takes 15 moves to complete the mate if played properly.
