The Shrubbery Links Games
In order to celebrate tonight, I thought we'd have a little fun.
I have chosen four challenge words traditionaly associated with tonight's celebrations and ask you to guess what 4 link-words could go with them to make either a new word or a weel kent phrase.
I, 'King Penguin', challenge you to predict my set of four links to go with these four challenge words.
WHISKY
RAB (I'm allowed 3-letter words - yours have to be 4 to 8)
BURNS
HAGGIS
Good Luck everyone! My Chosen answers will be revealed at 8pm.

I'd say
Whisky SOUR
RabBITS
Burns UNIT
(none of which have any Scots connection so will undoubtedly be wrong)
and - oh I don't know - how about Haggis SOUP? It would be about the nastiest way of eating the stuff that I can think of.
You'll have gathered that I'm not Scottish. However, I microwaved (horrors!) a haggis for my husband whose Scottish grandmother believed that her side of the family was descended from Rob Roy MacGregor.

. . . or some time thereafter . . .
Hopefully you are now getting the hang of what the Links Games are about.
There are two of them (don't ask why) known as the MM Links game and the KM Links game.
Both follow the same format as above. The MM Links are set by one of our own (currently Queen Christiana) and begin with a preamble in Q&P at 8:45 am on Saturday with the challenge words following at 9am. Please play promptly for the best chance of bonus points. Game closes and results are posted by myself at 7pm on Sunday.
The other game is the KM Links game which is based on the shaded answers in the Daily Telegraph 'Herculis' and GK crosswords on Saturday and Monday. That game is started earlier on Saturday, also in Q & P, by Seekeerz, and runs until midnight on Sunday. No time-sensitive bonus points in that game so play any time between those limits for an equal chance of points.
New players are always welcome in both games.
I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning in Q & P.
Until then,
Happy Linking

By The Way . . .
My chosen links to celebrate tonight were:
WHISKY GALORE
RAB BITS
SIDE BURNS
HAGGIS HUNT
Just a bit of fun to show you how the games work.
. . . and well done tearinghair - you matched Rab BITS. Have a double malt to celebrate.
Here's hoping to see you all tomorrow so please don't over-indulge on the whisky tonight because you'll need a clear head in the morning.
See you tomorrow.
