My Minecraft Dog Dissapeared

And I don't know where he went or how to get him back.

He was standing right beside me. My character went to bed and next morning no dog.

Has anyone any ideas on what might have happened to him please?

He is beside himself. Tears all over the place and dd is even crying because he has made a grave stone.

Unless you create an escape proof building for an animal it will wander off - much like in real life.

I was devastated when my dog wandered off in Fallout 3. I won't let this happen to Lydia (my wife) in Skyrim. If she gets killed in combat I simply load the game back in. I believe Trigs offered her up for sacrifice; he's not a lover.
