Android App Help

When selecting free apps for an android device how do you pick when there are loads of examples of the same one. I'm mainly talking well known things like freecell, solitaire, candycrush, bejewelled blitz, night sky maps - if you get my drift?

There are the comments/score from previous folk, but more often than not I try the first and if I like it, stick with it until an update ruins it.

Or, of course, there is a list of permissions and if I feel they are "Taking the Michael" I look elsewhere.
