Playstation has faulty connections?

I have an original Playstation, and it's always had a couple of problems: firstly, every now and again the picture on the screen goes dark and the colour goes very red, the sound skips and the picture starts scrolling. This seems to be remedied by fiddling with the cable which connects the Playstation to the TV, it seems to come out slightly. Anyway, recently the Playstation has started to reset itself of its own accord, this is annoying especially in games where it is difficult to save often. I don't know if anyone can help me, is this a faulty cable or is the machine simply too old? I find this hard to believe as I have friends who are still playing even older consoles than an original Playstation.

the colour problems could well have been the cable, but the reset problem doesn't sound like that to me. If it's always had a few problems, I think it was probably slightly faulty from the beginning.

Very unlikely it's under guarantee now though.

it seems to me that the playstation chip is burning out.

so a new one would be a good idea.

OK, well do you know where I could get a new one from? Or failing that how much do playstation 2's cost now?

Playstations sell for about �40-50 and PS2s for about �100. The older consols did not use CDROM technology - this is what wares out.

i got a ps one from the gamestation for �12.00 with two games and all the leads check if there is one near you!
