I was out the other day when I heard a phone ring and an elderly chap beside me got out his mobile phone which was of the small flip top type.

This got me wondering, when out and about do we really need the increasing larger portable encyclopaedia, games machine type telephone?

I still have one of these Motorola flip phones and a purpose small built in inside pocket in my jacket that accommodates it perfectly.

Would I be able to purchase another sim card along with the same personal telephone number as that of my much larger and bulky smart phone?

Pity, but thanks for that Zacs.
AOG I've never had a smart phone as I find my Samsung flip phone does everything I need it too while I am in or out. Obviously it doesn't do the same things the smart phone can do, but I can find that info on my computer. I do sometimes wonder when I'm in a waiting room somewhere, what it is that people are doing on their phones, perhaps playing games? I'm quite happy to sit and read a magazine. Oh, and by the way, in the many years I've had this phone (which I got with Tesco Vouchers) people I know with smart phones have had to replace them for one reason or another.
Actually those old basic phones are better than many smart phones at being phones.

Because a smart phone has to do so much, they have to compromise on some things. The aerial is often not so good, so reception is sometimes better with a basic phone. The vibrate feature on my smart phone is pathetic compared with my old Nokia. Also battery life is far better with the older phones.
