Nintendo Switch Voice Chat Fortnite
2 Answers
I join a 'party' with my friend on fortnite which puts us in the same lobby. I have an xbox one headset (headset with a normal jack port) with microphone. As far as i was aware you just plug the headset into the switch (jack port) and you should be able to communicate with your 'lobby' on the game. However, the music comes through my headset but i can't communicate, neither can my friend. Regardless who has a headset, say he doesn't have one.. My voice 'should' still come out of his TV if we're in the same lobby and party, but nada...
Does anyone have any suggestions to whats going on? It's definitely possible because i accidentally joined some other guys 'party / squad' and they could talk to me through my TV (my headset wasn't plugged in)
Yes, i have turned it off and on again.

So my issue was, i was playing via the TV, so my switch was next to my TV, therefore i used a 3rd party cable with the headset to extend it so i could still sit on the sofa. It was this 3rd party cable that was the issue. It output noise but was unable to receive noise (the mic)
When i plugged the headset straight into the switch instead of via an extension jack lead it worked fine.
