Mid March we both had an eye test at Specsavers, chose new frames for varifocal and separate reading specs for both, paid in full.

2 weeks later went along to pick them up..Husbands perfect but mine felt like I had someone else's prescription!!
Much trying to convince me they were fine...they most definitly were not fine..I've worn specs for 72 years..worn varifocal for good 30 years..never had any problem previously.
It was agreed I would go back the following week for a retest .

By the next week we had self isolated for my husbands health.
I rang Specsavers to say I couldn't make the appointment. At the time we hadn't envisaged
the virus was keeping us in lockdown for so long..

Meantime Specsavers rang to tell me my specs are ready for collection...impossible I've not had a retest yet!!

I'm thinking of asking for a full refund as they have my cash, paid in full mid March. There us no way of telling how long it will be before I can be retested.. certainly a few months with my husband on the extremely clinical vulnerable list.
Does anyone think I'm right to ask for a full refund?

Obviously I need at retest at some point but..do I want to go back after the service do far..

Anyone agree I should ask for a refund. Please

No. Get your money back and go to an Asda Opticians. Both my daughter and myself had the same problem with Specsavers and won't use them anymore.
Asda specs are a Which Best Buy and my designer framed varifocals with anti reflective coating, thinned lenses, scratch resistant coating cost £110. Admittedly Asda is not the most glamorous place to go to buy your specs but they were very professional, the service was very good and the price is unbeatable. They were recommended on AB, that's how I found out about them. Give them a try if you have one near you. Not all Asda's have an opticians attached. Here's a link for you.

I had a similar problem a few years ago..the glasses I had ordered and paid for were not fit for purppose and I had a similar arguement with the receptionist...which resulted in them being sent back to whomever mkes up the lenses. When they came back they were fine and it turned out that the lenses had been put in the frames upside down...a simple fix! They were circular in shape !
Surely you need to try out this new pair before you can reject them.
Yes, ask for a refund saying they aren’t working for you , a friend of mine was told by SS that there was something behind her eye and that she needed to go to our local eye department to have it checked immediately, she was terrified, I went with her ......nothing
She wouldn’t touch SS with a proverbial barge pole again
Maybe they realised they had given you someone else's prescription or made some other mistake. I suggest you ring them and ask them to clarify things, maybe send you them glasses by post to try- and if they are no good then reject them and demand a refund. Did you pay by credit card?

Thank you for all the replies.

I sent an email setting out the timings of my test etc..a reply says they have made my local store aware of my issues and they will get back to me.

I have never had a problem with Specsavers but my previous test was also at Specsavers but I took my prescription to Asda..chose my frames and varifocal lense collected week later, perfect . Extremely cheap at £48 complete with varifocal lense..I never have coatings..

I've now remembered while the lady assistant was trying to convince me there was nothing wrong with the new ones she disappeared with my old specs and the new unsuitable specs, to speak with her manager..she suggested I went for a better varifocal lense??
I had never been told there was more than one type. Not knowing where I purchased the old ones she went on to say the old lenses were better quality than the ones made for me by them..

The lense she recommended were a further 40 odd pounds.

Thank you Ladybirder..I agree Asda are brilliant with price and service. I had to travel 18 miles each way to get there .

Can't remember who mentioned did I use a credit card.. yes I did but always pay it off in full..if I can't get my cash back I'll consider using the bank for help

Many thanks.
If you used a credit card, bank will refund you, and get the money from retailer. Think it's consumer rights act if you Google it.
