A Bit Of A Dilemma

A good friend died two years ago come this August following the death of her husband exactly a year before,we had many happy holiday with the two of them and she always said I was the sister she never had , my family became their family as they had none of their own, they were there followed the birth of our very premature grandson and he grew up to call them his grandparents which we were happy with , they left 40% of their entire estate to him ( approximately £250,000) they’ve given him a start at 19 years old which we could only dream of….they had my daughter as an executor of their Wills along with the man’s sister, it’s taken a long time for the probate to go through as they both held separate bank accounts and neither discussed what the had but in 2014 they made a mirrored Will and told us our grandson would be a 40 % beneficiary.
My late friend counted her last Penny and lived very frugally,I’m not knocking her for this as it had no impact on me at all, if I owed her a £1 she’d ring and tell me not to forget :0) ….then there was good jewellery, some to be sold that would go to their estate, his sister wanted my daughter and me to have her engagement/eternity ring(s) , I got the eternity one which it turns out is worth £2,500, my dilemma is, do I leave it in its small box or do I wear it knowing how ‘careful’ she was till the end ? she didn’t talk death and was terrified of dying ,I guess what I’m asking is , would she approve?
Sorry this is a very long message

wear it, it's probably what she would have wanted - not to be sitting in some claustrophobic box shut away in dark, dank drawer.
She wanted you to have it, that includes to do with it as you wish. She knows you so would have an idea what you would do with it, and was obviously fine about that.
But mostly, nice jewellery is meant to be worn :)
i dont really understand the dilemma - if you want to wear it, wear it, if you don't want to, don't
Question Author
Oi, my drawers aren’t dank n dark DT :0)))
Question Author
Chelle, she had no say in it, it was her sister in law who decided upon it
Wear it either on a finger or on a chain round your neck to see how you feel
Question Author
Around my neck sounds a good idea , not sure why I’m feeling this way tbh, I know I’d rather it stay with us than being sold off, I keep telling myself she’d approve then thinking of how mean she was in her life :0/
^Read a few days ago that Sheila Hancock lost some rings that she wore on a neck chain...so be careful with that!
If you go out and about a lot, wear it ,flaunt it. If you don't, then why not sell it and buy something really useful? After all, she's not to know! A dear friend left me money with the advice to buy something nice - I paid in advance for my cremation!
Question Author
^^^ haha,I think she’d come back and haunt me if I did that, I’m usually a clear cut thinker but this has a few connotations, now I’m thinking I’ll wear it on my right ring finger after all, it’s not MY eternity ring
When something is gifted the right to choose what happens to that gift passes to the new owner.... If you love it enough to wear it that's good but if not then don't feel awkward if you sell it and do what makes you happiest. No one need know you sold it, only that you don't wear it.
Question Author
Thank you Rowan
If it was me, it would be converted into cash and spent on another holiday... A ring won't make you smile like memories will
Sell the ring, give the money to charity. No dilemma.
Question Author
I have no intention of selling it, my question was whether to wear it of leave it into box and if I did wear it, where, I’ve decided now I’ll wear it on my right third finger
Excellent .
Bored, Anne?
You drunk cg ? :-)
Now there's an idea, trade it for Grey Goose.
Question Author
Haha, no, Doug, she’d definitely haunt me , she was a gin drinker :0)))
