I'm helping a relative to replace a basic pay as you go sim free non-smart phone.
This one is as similar to the previous one as it gets. But in the Q&As it says not 4G compatible. If 3G is switching off soon will this it be a waste of money? And why does it say NEW if it's going to be obsolete by the end of the year?

so I can buy the phone, pop his old sim in it and away he goes. I think?

I've been doing a bit of researching and it seems that, as has already been suggested to you, that model from Doro seems not to support 4G.
However it does support 2G, which EE, Vodafone and O2 are expected to retain for many years yet (because many non-phone devices, such as personal alarms, can only use 2G) and which is perfectly good enough for basic phone calls and texts.
This 2G Doro phone is cheaper though:

If you particularly want a Doro phone which runs on the 4G network, this appears to be their cheapest model:

If 2G is good enough for you though, and you don't need the larger buttons that Doro models provide, there are far cheaper options available, such as

Thanks Chris. All good stuff and useful even though crossed posts.
His request is for a flip lid, good battery life and biggish clear buttons. No make or model preferences and of course now I understand a bit better, 2G will be perfectly adequate for phone and texting.
Any more suggestions very welcome.
Here is an option that has a large battery. 1400 Mah Amazon.co.uk User Recommendationref=sr_1_4?crid=3QMWZG0AWQA9V&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.MEgflqrzwuwt0zhWhFtrMZflG47SGnYtRh9mLHkWYZEOz2HVg9oE4lVsjNlXejbiRCJP0n1eNvoo3RLvtNa8Wn4HCgxbPDq17c58EfjFud-3_rF_vA62z61SJ0vxaZowStVhoV78udgCk0B0CKpdGAigfwpyIFvuxB1I-s4RMnqyCwfIgGCL1PZARWuIvAdc0MWsPX5THiYAK6zKLBsgnFHTfWXt2ZdjWNbYQlkztbBHB80IZ3NzMaYJDslI-F97gqP0XsMT8xBDb7y2vQWAx0AeKcL-iIqvl_RjJbjOeE0.3vxHxvp_NQKFXvWEqNPkpITRfolWD6ulauCBQacRkhY&dib_tag=se&keywords=Guwet%2BG936%2BBig%2BButton%2BMobile%2BPhone&qid=1726016305&s=electronics&sprefix=guwet%2Bg936%2Bbig%2Bbutton%2Bmobile%2Bphone%2Celectronics%2C293&sr=1-4&th=1
I bought my sister one of yours Maydup from the local phone shop last Saturday and even though I didn't know what I was talking about all this 3g malarkey - I mentioned it to the assistant and he said those phones won't be affected cos there is no internet on them. My sister loves hers as she is back to the land of living.
