Using a Sony Playstation 2 abroad.

Could anyone tell me if a Sony Playstation 2 with is purchased in the UK, would work abroad, specifically in Jamaica. Also, does anyone know if the games which are sold here marked 'Pal' would work over there?

While I know a thing or two about radio and TV systems, I have to admit that I don't know a great deal about Playstations. (I'm an old fogey. I've never played any sort of video game in my life!). Therefore I'm not prepared to guarantee any answer which is specifically about Playstations. (My previous answer was based upon the assumption that, if the manufacturer finds it necessary to mark a product as 'PAL', it's a pretty sure sign that it won't work with NTSC).
Rather than give you an answer which might be incorrect, I suggest that you contact the UK Playstation helpline on 08705 998877. Alternatively, you can send an e-mail from here:

(If that link times out, just go to http://uk.playstation.com and follow the 'Support' links).
I'm sorry that I can't answer your question directly but I'd rather point you towards a RIGHT answer than risk giving you a WRONG one!
