The Playstation3 release for the UK

Now that we know that the PS3 launch will be delayed for the UK, when it is launch in 2007 will there be a healthy supply of PS3's available even if you did not pre-order it?

almost certianly not!
this is a deliberate ploy used for all high demand products to gain more interest.by shops not being able to cope with demand it will become a news story and sony will get free advertising as did microsoft with the release of the 360.

i work within the retail side of the gaming world and ud be suprised how the lauch of the PS3 isnt that looked forward to, the PSP hasnt really picked up the as ud expect, Nintendo are way ahead of them, ive even heard the GBA SP is not that far behind in sales. and for the PS3 (sorry of the subject a bit) we havent seen much at all, normally we see stuff sligthly before every one else does and we havent seen much at all....id bit the bullit sony fans and get the 360 which is looking better and better all the time or even the Wii....which looks from what i have seen s**t hot

so to conclude i wouldnt expect much from the PS3 ..... sorry

its is actually launched on Nov 17 2006 according to the Playstation website

it is launched in november in japan and the u.s. but the euro release is now delayed until march 07.

xen,interesting to hear you say that as i had wondered how the increased price point would effect interest.it seems to me that the ps2 seems to be played in the majority by the gaming age in the middle ie older than nintendo players but younger than microsoft so if youre going to buy a console to play on a tv in the bedroom,do you really want to spend that much cash ?

fair comment Matt the prices are a huge turn-off, but with the PS3 is it well rumored to cost �300 plus....ive even heard the nasty �400 mark.....to be honest i only buy the new consoles as its part of my job, id have waited till next year really all the prices will drop and even more games out.....

and now fifa 07 and PES 6 is going to be an Microsoft exclusive. it'll be about 8-10months before the hit any other console

Supply and demand , as the chap mentions above is a common marketing ploy. It clouds the mind and creates a want. Heres an example, i did not want an xbox 360 last december i could not really afford it. But i was in "game" (the shop) and they surprisingly had a few in stock . I never stopped to think about it, got out the credit card and purchased it. WHY ! i ask myself, i know of the ploy, yet i still fell for it.
Manufacturers need to realise they are cheating their own customers using this ploy, Dedicated customers who cant or think they cant get hold of the product will line the pockets of the greedy dealers who sell their wears on auction sites at triple the price.
