Dance Mat Game
2 Answers
Hello everybody
A little while ago I played this dance mat/dance station game in an arcade. I know you can get it for either console/possibly PC (not sure about that) and was seriously thinking of buying a couple of mats, to play with my friends. I know there are different versions, and heard you could get it for the Sony playstation 1/2. Can anyone recommend which one I should get? Is there a version that you can link to your PC and just play from there? Basically I own a decent laptop and computer, and have big screens at home, so I thought if I could get a PC version (if it's good!) then i might just do that, as I don't really want to fork out for a playstation as well. But if the better version is for Sony, please could someone let me know which one I should get? Also, do you know roughly how much the whole package would cost, and perhaps where is a good shop/website to buy this from?]
I thought it might be a fun thing to do with my friends on the weekend (and yes, I am a bit older than 10 yrs!!)
Any help on this appreciated.

It's a little more fiddly than playing it on a PC than in the arcade, but not bad. You have to get songs and the associated 'steps files' for it though - there are some floating around on peer to peer filesharing systems.
Otherwise, DDR (dance dance revolution) is probably the most popular (which I believe is also available for PC).
There are lots of versions on the Playstation 1/2 - just get the one that has the same songs as the one you like to play in the arcades. The soft mats you can buy are not great though (their innards tend to become misaligned vs the pictures so you have to know where to step).

Something else that looks quite neat if you decide to go with the PC route:

Appears to allow you to create step files for your music. Haven't tried it though.
