How many people bought the PS2 first, only to realise that the XBOX was far superior a year down the line? I know I did. I'm sure you have loads of games you've not yet completed on your current console whilst you wait. And they'll be cheaper!
There are reports starting to come out that the PS3 is not now going to be released until September 2007 in Europe because of further problems with the parts.
I'd bite the bullet and get an XBOX 360 now, lots of deals at the moment and plenty of really good games available.
I'll probably get a PS3 myself but not for a couple of years when the price has dropped a lot and at that point I will be able to see if there is any REAL difference between the games on the 360 and PS3, at the moment they look pretty identical.
The Blueray player is a nice idea, but its looking that HD DVD is going to come out on top so its possible that Sony trying to force yet another propretary storage format on the world is backfiring.

basically the blu-ray player is the only reason that the ps3 is priced this high.developers are on record as saying that there is nothing to tell between the 2 in game quality.
i would imagine that blu-ray would win the format war simply because its sony's and they invest heavily in films with many other major studios also on their side but bearing in mind that next year hybrid players will arrive that support both, the war may be over before it even began.

It really is up to you Sharky, although when Gamespot compared the graphics between the two the 360 came out of it smelling of roses, the PS3 kind of has the same problem as the PS2 with washed out looking graphics and hardly any detail in most of its launch games, only time will tell. As for Spaced, you must be Spaced mate, the XBOX was and is a far superior machine to the PS2 with its graphics and with its online gaming too, I have both for the simple reason being i am a gamer and not a fanboy. I dont like Sony's tatics though with the whole Blu-Ray thing(I work for them), the dirty swines!!!
