Westward???

Hi there, any help with this would be much appreciated. My daughter has just purchased and downloaded the game 'Westward' and is having bother with it. The gist of the game is you have to build a town, house, feed and employ the townspeople. Trouble is that you have to go around collecting food but there never seems to be enough to go around and all your people leave because they are starving.
Does anyone out there know of this game and where all the food is =0/ ?
i have tried googling for cheats (that's bad I know) but so far I can't find anything.
Please help or I can see the comp going out the window.
