I'm desperate to sell my desktop PC, it is only 2yr old and cost me 700 quid brand new but i have mislaid the paperwork to it and have absolutley no idea what speed or memory or whatever else is important to advertise & sell it, i have looked on the tower thing itself and it's a Packard Bell UTOW with Intel pentium 4, windows XP and DVDRWR9 although i have no idea what any of this means! does anyone know what the neccessary things to know about it are and where i can find them, maybe on or in the PC itself, ive looked on websites for hours and come up with nothing! also if anyone could give me an idea of how much i could ask as a start price for it i would be grateful, it has a 17 inch flatscreen monitor and i want to flog it with a computer desk cupboard and computer swivvle chair, thanks, any help appreciated!

Start - my computer - view system information.

That should give you the details you need.

As you can buy new desktops with much better spec than yours, and with a year's warranty for 300 or so, you are not going to get much for yours.

OK thanks alot I'll give it a try, I'm not expecting to get a lot but I just want a new laptop and really dont use the desktop so probably better just to get rid of it! Thanks for your help
Download a utility called "FreshDiagnose" off the internet and install it. This will interrogate your PC and establish all its specifications including stuff you probably never realised was there.

You'll need to open the "hardware" box in the left hand window and then open each of the sub-folders in turn. These will provide you with details of everything in your computer and every peripheral connected to it.

Incidentally, there's a useful "bench test" at the bottom of the left hand window which gives you an idea of the PC's specification compared to today's models.
