If I buy a Nintendo DS in the US will I have any problems using it in the UK or buying games in the UK (aoart from the adaptor)?

No, the DS has no regional coding, so apart from the mains charger one bought in the US will work in the UK as will all the games. Wkipedia has more info on this.
