is it possible to copy the contents of a ds game onto your pc? if so how is it done???

i want to do this beacuase i bought my daughter a rd4 cartridge, and i have the original nintendogs game and the dog trainer.
the dog trainer wont work with the rd4 cart , so i want to copy the save files off the genuine cart so i can transfer it to the rd4

any ideas???
