As some of you may know, i have been offered a new job- whoooop! But - i think the offer may be withdrawn! before applying for this job i applied for another one that specified English as a good thing to have - and i have an English Degree. So i may have slightoly fibbed and put i had a 2.1 rather than the 2.2 that i did get..... Anyway - have toally forgotten to change it on my CV and now they have this company that is going to check all references and qualifiactions! Totally my own fault i know and i dont usually lie but i was so desperate for a job!! Thing is i dont want to call them and tell as they will know i tried to decieve someone else - although i know they will think that i tried to decieve them! Either way ive now handed in my notice, will probably not get this job and will be left high and dry!! Moral of the story - DONT TELL FIBS!!!!!!!!!!

or just hope for the best
Red beat me to it, I was going to say 'typo'. hope you still get the job

thats the thing i just dont know!!
If i do they may think its just because i now know they are checking everything! Or do I, when they phone, bluff it out and be all like "oh my god no - thats not right...."
ARGH!!!
I'm voting typo too!!
no point telling them its a typo, why would you be proof reading your CV now? They aint gonna believe that, plus they wil look into it.

Best thing to do is to keep schtum, and tell the truth if and when they ask.

As my dad used to say, "Honesty is the best policy
Do they really check out these results??

If so who do they check with!!

I thought most companies don't bother!!
typo - definitely the way forward; its not like you havent got a degree and you're blagging it the whole way.

i had to fill in some other forms and was using my cv to get the correct dates of employment so thats when i noticed!they need to check where i have been for the last 5 years and i was in uni for some of that - so i have EVERYTHING crossed that they will just be checking that i attened the Uni.

Apparently they have to check as my job is linked with financial services or something....
And yes spaced you r dad is right Honesty is always th ebest policy and usually i really am - i just really wanted to impress this company!

Say nothing unless they bring it up and then blame it on a typo.
You've been offered the job on your merits and they are NOT going to withdraw the offer, so please stop worrying.

If you ever read my CV there is so much fiction on it, it could have been written by Enid Blyton!
A degree in English? a 3.3 is still a degree zacs
everyone fibs on their CV, my name is a lie. My CV says Brad Pitt
Question Author
Than you Mrs_Overall - i am hoping they just check i was there - haha, i know loads of people who have totally made up there CV - dont know how they get away with it!
I passed all the tests and they really liked me apparently so fingers crossed!!
I'm sure a Desmond is a good enough qualification for the job. Even if they spot it, can't see them being too bothered.
Will you dump Angie and marry me, Spaced aka Brad??

Dont say anything as this may draw unnecessary attention to something that may be unoticed

A lie, nevermind how white it is (and in your case its a white one), is not a good first impression any company will like.

If they do notice the discrepancy, you should be honest. Because they may check or ask for proof from you certificate, and upon finding out that you have lied again, they may burn you at the stake.

Its a shame, as I can see why you did it, but can they?
Question Author
Oh yes i will def. be honest woth them if the question - no doubt about that,
And i do realise that it is NOT a good impression to make at all - i wouldn't be happy if i was employing someone and they had lied!
I will not be doing it again thats for sure!!
