PS2 Memory Card Error

My PS2 won'r recognise the memory card any more - it says that a card is not inserted and it is. We have bought a new card and the problem persists. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hmm...I think this used to happen to me,

To fix it I used to just blow in the slots to get out any dust that might have been in there
